The Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technologies at the Kirkuk Polytechnic College was established in 2025, following the transition of the Civil Technologies Department to the polytechnic system. The department focuses on preparing specialized technical personnel—including technical engineering assistants and technical engineers—equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. These professionals are trained in the design, execution, and management of engineering projects, such as buildings, roads, and bridges, while ensuring adherence to standards of quality, safety, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability, in addition, the program covers the execution of all field and laboratory tests on construction materials (such as soil and concrete), the interpretation of test results, and their verification against standard specifications. It also develops the ability to read and prepare architectural and structural drawings, in line with the requirements of the construction and building industry. Furthermore, the department aims to support applied scientific research and serve the community by providing technical consultancy and conducting laboratory testing.
