Under the supervision of the Dean of the Polytechnic College/Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Ashti Mahdi Aref,
the Department of Chemical Industries Techniques at the Polytechnic College/Kirkuk organized a scientific course entitled:
(Conventional Fuel and Sustainable Energy: A Comprehensive View)
The course addressed the concept of conventional fuel and sustainable energy sources, with a focus on the current status of energy sources, the environmental and economic challenges associated with the use of fossil fuels, as well as a review of the most important renewable and sustainable energy sources and their role in achieving the transition towards more efficient and sustainable energy systems.
The course also touched on the comparison between conventional and sustainable energy sources in terms of efficiency, cost, environmental impacts, emissions, and long-term sustainability, while clarifying the importance of diversifying energy sources and promoting the use of modern technologies to reduce the environmental effects resulting from the consumption of conventional fuel.
Course objectives:
1. Introducing conventional fuel sources: clarifying the most important types of conventional fuel, especially oil, natural gas, and coal, and their characteristics and uses in various sectors.
2. Introducing sustainable energy: reviewing the most important renewable energy sources, such as solar energy, wind energy, hydropower, and biomass, and clarifying their importance in the modern energy system.
3. Comparing energy sources: outlining the differences between conventional fuel and sustainable energy in terms of efficiency, cost, environmental impact, and continuity.
4. Raising awareness of environmental impacts: clarifying the effects resulting from the combustion of fossil fuels, especially greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution.
5. Promoting the concept of sustainability: spreading awareness of the importance of the rational use of energy, improving the efficiency of its consumption, and moving towards clean and susta
